Hi my name is Breauna Eckman and I’m a full-time college student studying Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry and Pre Medicine! Getting into fitness was something I had never planned. I always knew I wanted to help people, but it never crossed my mind that I would be making an impact through posting workouts, tips, and online training! Last year, as a freshman in college, I started a fitness page. Working out was my stress reliever and my happy place. I would get up before my 7:45 AM chemistry class and walk to the gym in 25 degree weather.
Starting college was a big adjustment for me and I honestly struggled at first. I have always compared myself to others my whole life. I had little to no confidence and didn’t think I was capable of reaching my goals. I strived to be as skinny as possible because that was seen as “normal”. I also hated doing things that made me uncomfortable or stand out in front of people.
Being that I was a competitive cheerleader for 5 years and a gymnast for 8, I have been pretty active my whole life. I would always compare my size to other girls on my team. In cheer, I was a flyer so the thought of being more than 100 pounds scared me to death. This led to a horrible mentality that I had to be as little as possible. It wasn’t until I quit cheer and got into lifting that I accepted my body and realized I didn’t need to strive to be anything but myself. Starting college was one of the biggest transformations for me because I started taking advantage of the things I used to hate and fear.
It forced me to realize that me being me was ENOUGH. Once I realized this, everything changed. I started my fitness page which was something I never would’ve done. I got out of my comfort zone and started recording my workouts in the recreational center,. Four months before that I would’ve turned around if there were more than 20 people there.
Fitness has given me so many opportunities! It has helped me grow as a person, find myself, build confidence, and help others do the same. See, I’ve always loved fitness but I figured I’d end up in health care because of my passion for how the human body works and my love for helping people. I never would’ve pictured myself where I am today getting to do both. My transformation in finding myself led me to getting to help women everyday become confident in their own skin, create healthy lifestyles, and build the bodies they’ve always wanted and it’s a feeling that I am forever thankful for.
